Jacob:

I love you God.
You made the whole world.
You took away the yucky from my heart.
You died for me on the cross.
You gave me a great family.
You made all the birds and animals.
You made the sweet sweet reindeer that carry Santa.

Daddy keeps reading the story. He notices Jacob sniffling. He looks down and sees tears in Jacob’s eyes.

Daddy: What is the matter Jacob?
Jacob: Tears are coming out of my eyes. I am sad for Jesus. He is dying on the cross.
Daddy: Tell people what?
Jacob: That Jesus is alive.

Setting: Mommy has taken Jacob to Chuck E Cheese to play and eat pizza. While riding the Chuck E car that takes your picture, Jacob had to go pee very badly. He stands up but is unsure what to do since the ride is not over and no 3-year old boy leaves a ride early. Mommy, holding and feeding Ava Lauren her bottle, implores him to go the potty quickly. Instead, Jacob looks down as pee runs down his pants into the seat of the Chuck E car.Â

Mommy [with slight anger]: Oh, Jacob. Why did you not go when I asked you earlier? I asked you three times if you had to go to the potty, and you said no.

Mommy [talking more to herself but aloud]: It is my fault. I knew you needed to go. I sorry I did not make you go to the bathroom.

Jacob [with complete sincerity and lack of personal responsibility]: Thank you Mommy for saying your sorry.

Setting: The foyer of our home. Daddy comes down the stairs and sees Jacob on his hands and knees.

Daddy: Hi Jacob.
Jacob: Woof, woof.

This is Jacob’s way of indicating he is playing as the imaginary dog Pulza (pronounced as Pull-zah) which is a name and entity he derived totally on his own. As Pulza, he generally says only “woof, woof” but will occasionally mix in human words to help indicate to Daddy what he wants done when Daddy is unable to properly translate “woof, woof.”

Daddy: Hi Pulza. What are you doing?
Pulza: Woof, woof.
Daddy: …
Pulza: Woof, woof.
Daddy: …
Pulza: Woof, woof. Play in river. Woof, woof.
Daddy: Oh, you are playing in the river. [This was a game they played earlier in the day where Pulza gets struck in the river and has to be pulled out.] Ok, I will help you Pulza.
Pulza: Woof, woof.

Pulza goes to a small wooden chair which he uses to get to stuck and thus requiring Daddy to pull him out. Pulza dives under the chair but manages to hit his head on the chair quite hard. Cries and tears soon come.

Daddy: Oh, Pulza, are you OK. You hit your head.
Jacob [Crying]: I am not Pulza anymore. I am Jacob. I hurt my head.

Jacob continues to step on the movies. He also keeps trying to “help” Daddy but this is not very helpful.

Daddy: Jacob, Daddy is sorry he got so angry with you. He should not have raised his voice like that. I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?
Jacob [looking up at Daddy]: I don’t want to fight.

Daddy feels really, really, really bad. He takes Jacob into his arms and hugs him.
